Artist Liz Craft is known for her humorous, poignant sculptures—a female skeleton riding a motorcycle, a Venice beach hippie on roller skates, a Magician’s assistant, sawed in half, and a couch with a woman lying on her back. For the Venice Beach Biennial, a variation on the sofa sculpture—minus the figure—will be installed near a new building on Rose Avenue and 5th St. in Venice Beach. The brightly painted fiberglass couch, covered in lifelike weeds, will be installed to mimic the tradition of leaving discarded couches out on the sidewalks.
